Survival Phrases in Spanish
The following phrases are important to understand and to be able to say in case of an emergency situation in which someone needs your help, or if you need help.
Please note that this section is also an essential part of Spanish for Travel.
¡Socorro! ¡Auxilio! ¡Ayuda!
(All of these words mean "Help!")
¡Ayúdeme por favor!
(Help me please! - when speaking to one person)
¡Ayúdenme!
(Help me! - when speaking to more than one person)
¡Necesito ayuda!
(I need help!)
¡Estoy aquí! ¡Estamos aquí!
(I am here! We are here!)
¡Sáquenme de aquí!
(Get me out of here!)
¡Llame al 911!
(Call 911!) Note: Observe that in Spanish, the number is usually said "nine hundred eleven."
¡No puedo moverme!
(I can't move!)
No puedo mover las piernas.
(I can't move the legs.)
No puedo respirar.
(I can't breathe!)
Tengo una herida. Estoy herido.
(I have a wound. I am wounded.)
Tengo dolor.
(I have pain.)
Estoy perdido. No soy de aquí.
(I am lost. I am not from here.)
Tengo sed. Deme agua por favor.
(I am thirsty. Give me water please.)
Necesito agua.
(I need water.)
Tengo hambre.
(I am hungry.)
Estoy embarazada.
(I am pregnant.)
Tengo frío.
(I am cold.)
Soy asmático. Soy diabético. Soy alérgico.
(I am asthmatic. I am diabetic. I am allergic.) Note: If it is a female speaking, the words would end in "a," for example, "Soy asmática."
Mis documentos están en mi bolsillo.
(My documents are in my pocket.)
Encuentren a mi hijo por favor.
(Find my son please.) Note: The word for daughter is "hija."
